WELCOME TO SIQUIJOR – The MYSTIC Island in the Central Philippines.

Come to my place where the sun meets the sea and the mountains greet the sky.

SIQUIJOR, a small island province in the Central Visayas, Philippines.

Poetically tagged by the Spaniards as ISLA DEL FUEGO – Island of Fire because of the fireflies that illuminate the island during night time (during those days, of course, we rarely see fireflies today).

We, locals, called ourselves SIKIHODNON from the great King Kihod, whom from the legend was said to be the great warrior when the Spanish explorers arrived.

SIQUIJOR today is one of the most visited islands in the country.

Name it and Siquijor has it.

It is also known as a MYSTICAL ISLAND because of the mystic traditions that the island has. Perhaps, it is very fitting to an island with mystery on its name. It has a reputation that it is a place for magic, sorcery (voodoo dolls) and witchcraft (which, I believed don’t exist).

Needless to say, some people (especially superstitious) are afraid to visit our place because of that reputation, but tell you, our place is a paradise.
