Explaining 3 proof of concepts from simplyBrand.

Introduction


3 days ago I wrote an introductory article about simplyBrand where it was explained how this project is planning to tackle the problem regarding counterfeit products in digital commerce, by creating a sophisticated platform based on blockchain technology, AI and machine learning, and doing it in such a way, that everyone can end up being rewarded for their work, which means that users, e-commerce platforms, brands, and enforcement agencies will all enjoy benefits for using simplyBrand.

To further expand the information about this project’s developments, I decided to write this article that will cover 3 interesting tools developed by simplyBrand, as of this moment these are all proof of concept.

Impact calculator


Counterfeit products take away sales from the original ones, and this means the original brand isn’t getting the money it deserves for being the one that created the actual product. But calculating how much money is being lost due to this fact is extremely difficult. However, since simplyBrand has a team with proper experience in this field, they decided to create their own calculator that can show their own estimated lost in revenue caused by counterfeit products.

In the calculator, they added some industries with the more important companies belonging to each of them. The following image shows the information about Coca-cola:

Counterfeit Risk Detector


As the name implies, this tool will provide a % indicating the probability of a particular product being a fake one. In order to accomplish something like this, simplyBrand will use both AI and machine learning technology to make sure the analysis behind these evaluations is as accurate as possible. The goal is to provide the users with an easy tool that could aid them in quickly identifying counterfeit products and ignore them when making online purchases.

In this very moment, this proof of concept has the following look:

We can see that in order to analyze a product the person first needs to provide some information, such as the digital store being used, the category and the brand. It also indicates the probability of the product being a fake one, and I think one of the most important aspects is the one at the bottom of the page, where simplyBrand provides useful recommendation of original products that are very similar to the one the person is planning to purchase, this will be of big help because those recommendations are obviously already vetted by the system.

simplyBrand’s Dapp


SimplyBrand, such as many other blockchain projects, will work on a decentralized way, this means that users from all over the world are going to be able to participate and contribute in the fight against counterfeit products. The way to do this is through the use of simplyBrand’s own dapp, which can be found here.

In order to start participating people only need to sign up, and start earning tokens for helping differentiate counterfeit products from the original ones, besides, according to simplyBrand, “each brand will provide special products or services as rewards which can be exchanged for SBA tokens in the Dapp.” Source

Conclusion


SimplyBrand clearly has some interesting ideas to help reduce the impact counterfeit products have on the market, and it is always interesting to see some proof of concepts in its early stages.
