Father’s Day

Afternoon everyone…..

I’d like to start off by wishing all the fathers out there a very happy Father’s Day. Many overlook this holiday as non important. I really don’t understand why….

Mother’s Day gets all blown up, yet Father’s Day typical goes under the radar. While most people do a brunch, flowers, etc for Mother’s Day. On Father’s Day, the person who is supposed to be honored or celebrated, is the one typically manning a grill……🤦🏻

Most guys, me included don’t make a big deal about any holiday involving themselves. I don’t care about my own birthday, or make a big deal about it. I’d rather be the one providing a nice celebration or gift or both to someone I care for and about then receive anything for myself.

Father’s Day took on a different meaning for me after my father’s passing a little over five years ago. I remember all the things he sacrificed for me growing up, and ability to make it look like nothing.

To all of you who still have fathers, don’t take the time left with them for granted. You will regret it after they are gone.

My father was hospitalized two days after his eighty second birthday. He spent nearly three months straight in the hospital before passing away. I was there every day without fail. I’m no saint and never claim to be. But that was one decision in my life that I’m quite proud of. I learned a lot about my father in his final weeks that I never knew or was told.

While I’m not going to share those personal things out loud with anyone. They are one of the things that builds a true man.

I know that he’s no longer here, but he’ll always be in my memories.
