# 997 - German Coins - Part 7

I was rummaging through a box when I found a few German coins. As I haven't posted them yet, let's start a new series about German circulating or commemorative coins.
The seventh is a 1974-F 5 Deutsche Mark.
This coin weights 11.2g , with silver purity of 62.5% and Uncirculated finish. Its mintage was 6,514,000 units.
It was a Standard circulation coin and was minted from 1951-1974 in four different German mints, when was replaced by a copper-nickel coin. This one was minted in the Staatliche Münzen Baden-Württemberg, Stuttgart, Germany.
On the edge is written "EINIGKEIT UND RECHT UND FREIHEIT", that means "Unity and Justice and Freedom".
The obverse shows the face value, with the mintmark below the date..
The reverse, engraved by A. Holl, shows a German eagle.

The nominal value of all the silver coins were less than their silver content. So, no more circulating silver...
So very true my friend, circulating silver coins are gone...sad
