# 1232 - 5th Centennial of the Discovery of America - Part 11

We will continue the "5th Centennial of the Discovery of America" series III, minted in 1991 by the Real Casa de la Moneda, Spain.

All the coins have a 92.5% silver purity and Proof finish.

The first coin is a 500 Pesetas, weighting 6.75g. The obverse depicts Jorge Juan y Santacilia, a Spanish mathematician, scientist, naval officer, and mariner.

The second coin is a 200 Pesetas, weighting 3.37g. The obverse depicts Bartolomé de las Casas, a 16th-century Spanish colonist who acted as a historian and social reformer before becoming a Dominican friar. He was officially appointed "Protector of the Indians".

The third coin is a 100 Pesetas, weighting 1.68g. The obverse depicts José Celestino Mutis, a Spanish priest, botanist and mathematician.

The first coin reverse depicts a world map showing the Earth flattened at the poles.

The second coin reverse depicts three indians playing music.

The third coin reverse depicts a flower.
