# 1165 - Some Canadian Commemoratives - Part 28

The info below comes from the Royal Canadian Mint's COA (Certificate of Authenticity) of this coin or https://en.numista.com/ , or https://www.wikipedia.org/.

I will show you some Canadian commemorative coins that are not part of a series, in no specific order or value.

The twenty-eighth is the 2012 CAD $1 "Olympic Lucky Loonie".

It weights 7.89 g with 99.99% silver purity and Proof finish. The mintage was 19,982 units and the issue price was CAD $39.95.

The Royal Canadian Mint has issued a Lucky Loonie since 2004, coinciding with each Olympic and Paralympic Games to enable Canadians to remember, support and celebrate past and future Canadian Olympic Team accomplishments. This specially designed Lucky Loonie was to celebrate a Canadian Olympic Team story, and to wish all of our Canadian athletes the very best of luck as they compete in London.

Designed by Canadian artist Emily S. Damstra, the reverse depicts a common loon spreading its wings in a territorial display, one of the species’ most elegant and recognizable poses. It also features a red painted Canadian Olympic Team logo to celebrate and support Canada’s athletes as they prepare for the Games in London.
