SPECIFIC GRAVITY TEST SILVER COINS

in #silver8 years ago (edited)

hello I'm going to try with the aid of some pictures a specific gravity test on two silver coins the one on the left was a new purchase and the right I've had some time IMG_1784.JPGfirst thing I did was to weigh them both dry first the left one IMG_1785.JPGthen the right one IMG_1786.JPGright one looks to be a little light? Then I weighed the left one submerged by some cotton in water IMG_1790.JPGand then the right one IMG_1791.JPGthen I divided the dry weight by the wet weight for both coins IMG_1802.JPGnow I hope I have done this correctly some feedback would be appreciated but I think that the one on the right is bad although too look at it it looks fine I also done the magnet test and the was a very notable difference on the right side coin I'm sure it's no good hope to hear some feedback thanks mike

I think the one on the right might be, well you know. Not .999 silver. Great test though, if i remember correctly you did it right.

Cheers mate I think it's a bad one but it's been interesting doing the tests thanks for the reply

No one does it like Perth!! The fake is a pretty good counterfeit, but side to side, there are noticeable differences in the print. the text is a bit chunkier than the authentic one. Thanks for showing us how to conduct this test!

Interesting test:) Thank you:)

nice test I maybe one day I will use it
