Pat Solotano (Bradley Cooper) is a man who always looks at the side of a cup and believes that "there is a good in everything". After his wife leaves him for another man, Pat is left in the mental hospital and is determined to regain his wife and regenerate his life. Trying not to let the moral break down, Pat moves to his parents' side and tries to be a kind of guy his wife wants. However, this is a difficult challenge. Until I met Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), a beautiful young woman who does not go as he wants.
