Turkey's move against the Kurdish cantons in Northern Syria was inevitable once the Kurdish leadership jumped into bed with US imperialism and let themselves be used as an American proxy to parition Syria.
Turkey sees the Rojava cantons as an existential threat which cannot be ignored. Now that the US is openly backing the YPG then Turkey has been forced into a de facto alliance with Russia, Syria and Iran.
The US is in for a major reality check. It is increasingly isolated in the Middle East and the forces opposing it in the shia crescent have emerged more powerful from the struggles aginst Isis in Iraq and Syria.
Unless the US openly intervenes against Turkey then the YPG is for a hard time of it. Then again can the US afford to alienate such an important NATO ally?
Nato is a front for the US (bankers), so it won't make much difference , imo.
What it will do , is allow nato to be seen for what it it, which is always good!
The US is in the death throws of empire collapse....
