Shudder Review - Horror Streaming as Good as Advertised?

  • Do you love being frightened by a good scary movie? Or loved the creepy side of Halloween?

Then you're gonna love Shudder. It's an on-demand streaming service for the fans of the horror, thriller, and suspense genres. You'll get TV shows, movies, podcasts, and a live TV stream with Shudder. First, I'm gonna go over the pricing, which is not bad at all.

Then I'm gonna talk about the interface, along with one feature really like that Shudder has, and I wish all on-demand streaming services had, then I'll talk about all of the scary content you can get with Shudder and basically make the case of why this is absolutely worth it for the horror fans.

The pricing of Shudder is similar to Disney Plus, Shudder is six bucks per month, so you really could just order it for the month of October, or if you're a spooky all year round kind of fan, you can get the annual subscription for 57 bucks and save 15 bucks a year.

if you want a free trial to Shudder. You can watch it on its own streaming app or if you have an Amazon Prime Video account, you can subscribe to Shudder through that so you don't have to worry about another app taking more of your storage space on your phone or your smart TV.

All right, let's talk about the interface. When I first opened up Shudder for the first time, I thought it was Netflix. It has the same colors, the same layout, similar tabs, and it gives you the option to add a movie to your list just like Netflix. I like it. Shudder uses the perfect colors for its brand and they've created an interface that's familiar, but I wanna highlight a feature that Shudder has and I wish all on-demand streaming services had, watcher ratings and reviews.

You can get movies and TV shows a five school rating, and you can also write an honest review. I don't know about you guys, but I have a hard time finding a movie I want to watch on Netflix or Hulu that I know isn't gonna waste my time.

This is where reading the member reviews come in handy. Shudder also has a thing called ShutterTV which is like a cable TV channel for horror movies. It's a 24/7 livestream of killer content, if you can't figure out what you want to watch. It's handy if you want the experts at Shudder to curate some horror for you to watch and speaking of what you can watch, let's talk about the content.

ShudderTV shows are pretty light compared to its movies. There's a, "Binge This," section with shows like "Holliston," and "Blood Machines," but if you click Series at the top, you'll find about 45 different horror TV shows and podcasts.

As for movies, Shudder has all kinds of sub genres. Who knew there were so many sub genres within the horror genre?Well, you did, you lover of gore. You get supernatural, killers, psychological thrillers, and creature features. I counted about 355 movies that you can choose from to watch on Halloween night or on a random day in the summer if that's your kind of thing.

But you have to keep in mind if you're an average scary movie fan, and you're looking for popular horror titles like, "Saw," "The Conjuring," or "Get Out," you won't find it here.

Instead you'll find some darker, some older, and some creepier types of movies that you may have never heard of before. and for you dedicated horror fans, you'll have a lot of new content to keep you entertained that you can't find with another streaming service. Like Hulu or Netflix, Shudder has their own original series, like the show, "Scare Me," which is a horror-comedy about two strangers telling each other scary stories or the show, Host," about six girls who conduct an online séance through Zoom and accidentally invite a demonic presence.

So is Shudder worth it? yes, it's definitely worth it. Especially if you're a huge fan of creepy, dark, scary content. If this is you, 57 bucks a year is nothing to be able to stream twisted TV shows and movies all year round. Whether you're a horror buff or the average fan, the strength of Shudder is that it gets you off the beaten path. Like I said, you're not gonna find "Halloween," "The Ring," or "IT," but you will find old and new creepy,

dark, and suspenseful movies and TV shows you may have never heard of before. So throw on a movie like, "The Deeper You Dig," grab some candy corn popcorn and treat every day like it's Halloween.
