Showcase Sunday: CUUUUUUUBES
A lot of what I post here on Steem art-wise are my class demos for different classes that I teach. The following are from a digital painting class that I teach that is ultimately about understanding the visual properties of different surfaces.
I teach in the game design department which encompases concept art for games (2D art/Drawings+Painting) as well as 3D art. Regardless of which one of these a student might focus on, it's important to understand surface characteristics and how different materials react to light.
In the class we study this by painting cubes of different surfaces in Photoshop. All of the paintings below are from in-class demos.
Just your run of the mill cube of dirt.
One of the things that's really fun about these showcase-sunday posts is going through all the old posts. Seeing the comments, it's a bit like a snapshot in time. People pissed about past HF glitches. Different drama, a time when way more people were here, etc. Anyway, this is another browser killer with all these gifs so sorry if I crash your browser :D
See you all in the next post!
Ahh the cubes XD I've been told I should do cubes but they're too abstract for my meagre brain x_x I do like looking at other people's cubes though :)
They're pretty fun, good for strengthening fundamentals :)
I'm sure they are, but my brain demands reasons for doing things so I just have to get better each piece because my brain hates practise pieces done purely for practice and simply refuses to do them XD
Needs more cubes.....
Some nice cubes that you've got there friend ;-)
