in #shortstories6 years ago

“Thank God it’s Friday”….. Casey could hear Sarah sing in the hallway just before the door swung open. “Case, guess what?” Sarah said as she dropped her purse, without waiting for a response she resumes her singing

“Thank God it’s Friday” …..Casey covered both ears with her palms as Sarah just went on and on making her own lyrics as she lifted both hands high in the air with reckless abandon.
She was accustomed to abbreviating people’s names that was why she called Casey ‘case’ and the name stuck over the years.

“Sarah, Sarah listen, I know how much you love partying on Friday night and I know it’s summer break and you’ll love to sleep at the club but tonight I would really love to stay indoors, tell you what, Casey continued “let’s just head out for a few drinks and then come right back home” she concluded blinking multiple times raising her perfectly shaped eyebrows to give her face that puppy look Sarah so much adored.

“Casey stop, stop doing that, that is so adorable, Ok fine we’ll go for the drinks then you can come back home and have a romance with your bed IDK but am still heading out, Fair enough Right!”.

Sure babygirl, you know I love havin’ the romance with my bed… Casey giggled.

“I’ll have a vodka tonic and a bloody Mary please” Casey said to the waiter as he drew his little jotter from his shirt and pulled a pen. He turned to Sarah who said she would have the same with Casey ; he scribbled their order on his jotter and moved purposefully and briskly towards the bar.

“It’s so unlike Friday night in here, I can actually count the number of people here, its scanty and its odd or maybe something happened in town that we do not know about” Casey said presumably lifting up a left eyebrow
Sarah just sat there and looked at Casey with her usual ‘are you for real’ look which she seemed to be giving more frequently these days.

“Case its just 8.00 pm” Sarah finally responded but Casey wasn’t listening as she darted her eyes from one corner of the bar to the other, she could see a family of four, two well-dressed middle aged women who seemed to be gossiping, two teenagers making out while the other concentrated on his phone, a group of middle aged men drinking beer and throwing glances at the middle aged women at the far end, just as she moved her eyes just an inch further , that’s when she saw him...
