SECRETS OF SHOPS AND SUPERMARKETS

in #shopping7 years ago

Modern life is impossible without supermarkets. Convenient, fast, everything is under one roof - great. Certainly. But the main task of these supermarkets, like all other stores, is to make us leave as much money as possible. And this is done in very artful ways.

What are they?

  • sex sells

This law always works. If an advertisment has a sexy girl it will work better - it was proved million of times. I didnt belive in it but I had online shop some years ago and I had my own experience that it is really so. If I make advertisments with sales, discounts, presents it works for  50% , but if I put my photo or a photo that contains passion, sex, naked bodies or just a pretty girl -  it works 100%.

It was one of my first ad) and it worked fine, the number of customers grew up.

  • large baskets and trolleys

The size of the trolleys is impressive. Convenient and roomy? Perhaps, but how many people fill carts to the top? It is just a mute push to buy something else, because there are still a lot of place inside and shopping can go on..

  • pleasant music

What  music plays in supermarkets? Pleasant lounge, classic, something unobtrusive, leisurely, all that can serve as an ideal backdrop for long walks between rows and a successful shopping. The task of the store is to create the right atmosphere and mood, and the music does it the best.

  • racks and shelves

Their location is also not accidental.  Products which must be sold quickly or those ones that have not the best price are usually placed at the level of eyes. As a rule a customer grabs what lies closer - and this law is known to managers.

  • scatter of goods

Often it is necessary to bypass the store in a circle, or even more than once, in order to see everything that is necessary. Is not it better to arrange all the running gear next to each other? Better -  for you, not for the store. The more you will go - the more you will buy.

  • goods at the cash desk

Psychologists and marketers have proved  the fact that we, standing in line will stare at them and 99% we will take something! People wont buy something expensive when they are almost out but a bar, chewing gum or napkins are just right. Trifle, but how many such buyers per day stand a couple of minutes in line at the checkout, each buying something just for 1 usd... In sum, the profit is very decent.

So, my friends, be attentive and take care of your money)

I wonder why still so huge % of daily sales (like food) are done in supermarkets insted of online shops? There are only few in my country but they give option to deliver all type of food to your home.

If you think for a minute how long it takes to:

  1. Make a list of purchase
  2. Get out of home
  3. Drive to the market
  4. Find stuff on shelves
  5. Put them all to the shop basket
  6. Wait in the queue (nightmare)
  7. Get all stuff from basket to be scanned and pay
  8. Get the stuff back to basket
  9. Go to you car and get stuff again from basket to your car
  10. Drive back home
  11. Get all stuff from car to your home

When you consider online steps it's ultra fast:

  1. Click what you want to buy (you can better compare prices and all those market tricks with music aren't working here). You can even schedule delivery.
  2. Wait for the stuff at your doorstep and pay there
3, The stuff is already here.

So for the additional few $ you spare your time of driving, gasoline cost, you buy what you need and save enormous time needed to find products in the market, as they like to change everything very often adn also in the queue.

i agree with you but in Russia we dont have online shops with food, ready food from restaurants - yes, delivery to home, but just to buy food to cook at home - no, maybe in big cities but I dont know about it
it's a great idea for sure

And the smell from the bakery of freshly cooked bread, too tempting :)

You really have so many great articles. And since one of the things that I love to do is share valuable information…
