Increasing Number of Shoppers Start Their Journey On Amazon

Rather than using google to start looking around for things to buy, an increasing number of people are beginning their shopping experience by checking Amazon. It's estimated that at least 55 percent of consumers set out and begin their online shopping journey by searching the Amazon site, according to a study by BloomReach. This is an increase of over 10 percent compared to last year. Compare that to just 28 percent that said they prefer to start their shopping search by using an alternative search engine like Google or another.

In the future, retailers and others are going to be looking to boost the shopping experience so that the customers can have a seamless shopping experience. From updating their pages to creating ways for them to make repeat purchases with just the click of a button, it is becoming increasingly easier for people to get what they want with convenience.

The omnishopping experience is an emerging retail reality that came about from the need of consumers to go about looking for their purchases within a number of different channels. Digital shopping options aren't just driving consumption by having people engage in e-commerce, but it is actually prompting people to go back into the store looking for other products, or to head to other stores looking for similar and related products.

Increasingly, consumers are looking to make purchases from their phones just as much as they are from their desktops or by going into the store location itself. New research demonstrates that the connection between online and in-store shopping is still a strong one for many consumers. Digital tools offer an opportunity to give the consumers a better shopping experience by helping to tailor their experience to what they need specifically.

We continually combine our digital tools with our shopping experience, so it's no surprise that many are looking to begin their search on a site like Amazon, which recommends related and similar products to the ones the customer originally searched for; which might be why so many enjoy beginning their search here.

Research also supports the notion that more affluent shoppers (under the age of 45) prefer to do their shopping online and they increasingly prefer to use their smartphones to help them do it.
