Amazon Now Shipping Donations To Goodwill For Free

in #shopping8 years ago

Amazon just launched it's partnership program with Give Back Box, so now anyone can re-use their Amazon box that they received their Christmas or boxing-day package in etc, turn around and re-send that box to Goodwill full of donations. GiveBackBox.com is a startup that was launched only a few years ago and it seeks to help to enable customers to give back in a unique and convenient way.

The program offers shipping that is free of any cost.

Anyone who has some extra clothes and other items around the house, who doesn't have any need for them any longer, can print a label from GiveBackBox.com and use their Amazon box to get those donations to Goodwill.

Once the box is full of the donation items and has the posted label on it, you can then choose to have UPS or the U.S. Postal Service deliver that box to the appropriate Goodwill location, by dropping it off to either location for sending. If you cannot drop it off at any location then you can also make arrangements to have the donation box picked-up.

The funds from the donations go toward supporting community job training, employment placement, and other community programs.

For those who send boxes full of donations, a tax receipt will be sent to them once the box is received at the Goodwill location. There is no limit on how much you can put in the box or on how many boxes you can choose to send.

However, they state on their website that they cannot accept any fragile, hazardous, or volatile items, as well as any ammunition or electronic donations.

They encourage donations of a number of everyday household items, like clothing, shoes, and jewelry. You can choose to ship the package from any state in the U.S., and there is also plans for the program to extend to Canada in the near future. Considering that millions of people decided to do their holiday shopping online this year, that could be a lot of donation boxes coming soon in Goodwill's direction.

This is awesome that they are doing this. I might try this next time I order from them.

Indeed, nice to see them helping with goodwill of second hand items. They sure as hell have the profits to be able to handle this without a blip. More mega rich corps would do well to engage in helping-hand behavior year-round. I suspect this is for the duration of these return boxes supply during the holiday season?

those pesky profits that go toward helping them to expand to provide even bigger/better service to customers in the future, as well as to paying for the employment of thousands and supporting everyday upkeep of their platform/warehouses etc.. and yes I too think this voluntary charity program they've conjured is a good idea

not sure how long the program is running for it wasn't specified on Amazon or GiftBackBox's site

Dude they have plenty of profits to go round many times. Development, expansion, it's all already covered. Ad takover on google.

Freedom isn't about you telling other people how much of their money is legitimate, or how much is enough for them to have....... is it?

Then, you turn that around to me acting as if they can't do what they want which they do? Ha!... I said what I said. They can "handle it", others can "would do well" to engage in the same, they are able to. Am I forcing them to? No. What's your problem?

That's great ! I would definitely use this service if or when it becomes available in Canada ! What a great idea and thanks for sharing ! 🎊🎉🍾👍

Great thing!
