Would you call STEEM/STEEMIT a "social media platform"?

in #shitcoin8 years ago (edited)

I think its delusional to call this a "social media platform".
Its running on about a thousand nerds, thats the social reach.
The novelty factor has vanished, no real news, few new subscriptions.
No "average users" make it here, the UI is just too fucked up to keep them.
Many of them are pissed off immediately by the tone of the board police and the downvoting idiocy.
The content is boring, most of it is re-written bullshit I've seen a hundred times somewhere else.
And thats still the shit that gets most of the dough, nothings changed.
It turned out to be a shitty pyramid game on the back of some average gifted writers and some well payed role models.
And most of the activity around the monetization turned out to be a typical Ponzi, so far.

No value added, for nobody except a few.
How would you deny that?
And please answer this simple question:
How and where do you want to add value to this "platform"?

Sort:

yes some things need to change but wouldn't it be better to think of solutions to the problem?
We are all a part of steemit and therefore we all can facilitate change.

I think the UI is quite good.

Otherwise, I (still) see it as an interesting experiment to learn from.
