A single city in China built more skyscrapers last year than the US and Australia combined. Shenzhen, a city in southern China known for electronics manufacturing, stood out last year, completing 11 such skyscrapers. That’s more than the US and Australia combined.

Asia's largest underground railway station opens in Shenzhen. The station, located in downtown Shenzhen covers a total area of 147,000 square meters -- about the size of 21 football fields. Three underground floors can provide seats for 3,000 passengers.

Shenzhen Plans World's Largest Metro System. 深圳計劃世界最大的地鐵系統
The plan, posted on an official Shenzhen government website, outlines a goal of 32 lines, including eight express lines and 24 regular lines by the end of 2030. They would bring the length of the Shenzhen metro system to almost twice the size of Shanghai's current system, the world's longest.
