When it comes to powering down, you need to power down when you pay for upvotes to keep the cycle going since part of the money you spend gets vested and lost to curation reward. Ex: spend 100 SBD, receive upvote worth 100 SBD and 38 SP, take 25% away for curation reward ur left with 75 SBD and 28.5 SP. To keep the cycle going, you would have diminishing return or have to pay more out of pocket if you didn't power down.
