The reality is that everything needs some amount of regulation if we want to let capitalism be in charge. Otherwise this happens and companies line their own pockets instead of the benefits trickling down to consumers. It hasn't gotten as horrifying as it seemed but who knows this is only the start.
I think you are correct for the most part, but how do you ensure the regulators themselves aren't corrupted eventually?
