Sports Shadows : Snowshoeing
My entry to @melinda010100’S #shadowphoto contest Here is a photo I took a few years ago of Hubby using the snowshoes for a trek around the yard.
Snowshoeing is a form of hiking and can be a lot of fun when the snow is appropriate and the conditions not icy or steep. It’s an inexpensive activity in winter. The weight of a person is distributed equally making it easy to navigate through the snow.
Traditionally snowshoes were made of a hardwood frame with rawhide lacings but nowadays many are made from synthetic material.
Snowshoes were a necessary mode of travelling over snow for trappers and fur traders in the past. Although snowshoes are mostly used as a recreational sport nowadays, forest rangers still use them to get into areas where vehicles can’t travel.

we hit the 100's share some snow please
Hi Manuel @manuel78. Hope you are keeping well.
Thankfully the snow is gone now and we are getting nice weather but nothing like in the 100’s. I don’t know if I could survive very good in too hot a climate being used to milder weather....We of the North. 😂
waves half melted into the ground its great wearher Lol
Howdy redheadpei! wow that's a great photo and perfect for the tag too! That is still tons of work even with those snow shoes on isn't it? At least it looks hard to me.
Thanks Cowboy and good evenin’. Actually snowshoeing is suppose to be fun and good exercise, not work. It’s a snow sport like skiing or tobogganing.
oh I didn't even realize it was an actual sport. I still think it would be work, at least for me!
