Week 5 Results

This week did not disappoint. It took until week 5 in the season for there to finally be some close games. Two matchups were decided by 5 points or less and another one was decided on Monday night. One team remains undefeated, while two teams are 1 GB at 4-1 and three teams are 2 GB at 3-2. This week also saw another perfect efficiency rating and one more at 99.9% efficiency.

@mikeshuh vs Gators @tom74

Touted game of the week as a 4-0 took on an 0-4 team may not have been the ideal matchup, but it was prime for an upset. @mikeshuh had a good number of usual starters on the bench, but it did not matter as he didn't let that stop him. Aaron Rodgers drove the Packers down for a game winning touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys as he scored 24 points for @mikeshuh. A.J. Green had one of the most impressive weekends at wideout for the week amassing 30 points on 189 yards receiving and scoring one touchdown. This was the first week I can recall a player starter two tight ends and it paid off as both starters for @mikeshuh scored 18 points. Gators @tom74 did not have any huge games from any single player, but had pretty solid production from his backs and receivers. Wayne Gallman received his first start of the year for Gators @tom74 as he was productive both running and receiving out of the backfield on his way to 13 points. Duke Johnson capped off his third straight game with a touchdown for Gators @tom74 as he scored 17 points against the Jets. Gators @tom74 effort was not enough to upset @mikeshuh as he stays undefeated at 5-0.

@sevinwilson vs @NiketheMutt

This game was decided on the Monday night matchup between the Bears and the Vikings. Prior to the game the score was 97.4 to 95.52 in favor of @sevinwilson. @sevinwilson had two players left (a kicker and second string running back), while @nikethemutt had a receiver. In the end, Jerrick McKinnon, the running back replacing Dalvin Cook for @sevinwilson was the difference maker as he exploded for 26 points on the evening. @sevinwilson also got a 20 point performance from another player he signed this week as a free agent Will Fuller who caught 2 touchdowns on his only 2 catches of the day for the Texans. If the experts were told Todd Gurley would only score 5 points and @sevinwilson would still win the week most would have not believed it, but he was held up by the rest of his team. @nikethemutt did not get the performance Thursday night as the Buccaneers defense held Tom Brady and James White in check for the most part. The two combined for 25 points on the night as the Patriots held off the Buccaneers in Tampa. Christian McCaffrey scored his first touchdown on the year and his struggles continued on the ground for @NiketheMutt. The biggest difference maker in this week was the wide receiver unit for @NiketheMutt only combined for 25 points.

Corn Cobb Pipe @mstodola91 vs @paradise-found

Prediction: Corn Cobb Pipe @mstodola9 125.94 | @paradise-found 128.62

This game should have been game of the week as it was decided by less than 3 points. One of the craziest matchups you will see in fantasy football as it featured three starters for Corn Cobb Pipe @mstodola91 with three players over 20 points and no other player in double figures while @paradise-found only had one player over 20 points in the week. In the end, it was @paradise-found who came away with the win. In the preview we mentioned how the Thursday night would be a big time determinant on the ultimate score and this was truly the case. The duo for @paradise-found (Chris Hogan and Stephen Gostkowski) combined for 37 points while the duo for Corn Cobb Pipe @mstodola91 (Mike Gillislee and Mike Evans) only scored 15 points. Garbage stats matter in Fantasy Football and Corn Cobb Pipe @mstodola91 is perfectly fine with that as Deshaun Watson (35.5 points) and the Texans were constantly playing from behind this weekend against the Chiefs. The Giants WR were extremely banged up this weekend and TE Evan Engram was targeted 5 times, but was not able to haul in a pass for @paradise-found. Le'Veon Bell and Kareem Hunt each scored at least 14 points this weekend for @paradise-found. Jarvis Landry continued his streak of scoring in double figures as he has done so in every game this year. @paradise-found sits in a tie for first place in the Division, while Corn Cobb Pipe @mstodola91 currently is tied for last in the Division.

Nic Nasty @nicnas vs Jupiter Explosion @breakthrough

Coming into this matchup, the experts thought this would be a nail-biter, but it ended up being the blowout of the week in favor of Jupiter Explosion @breakthrough. The only bright spots for Nic Nasty @nicnas were Carson Wentz who scored 27 points and the Seattle Seahawks defense who added 14 points. The rest of the starters for Nic Nasty @nicnas were extremely disappointing as 6 starters were held to single digits. The Dallas Cowboys players for Nic Nasty @nicnas, Ezekiel Elliot and Jason Witten, combined for 26 points, but this was not enough. The TE, PK, and Defense for Jupiter Explosion @breakthrough was extremely underwhelming as TE Antonio Gates, PK Matt Prater, and DEF Texans combined for 8 points. This did not matter at all as the rest of the squad for Jupiter Explosion @breakthrough absolutely went off. Dak Prescott added 30 points, while Nelson Agholor and Michael Crabtree contributed 19 and 20 points, respectively for Jupiter Explosion @breakthrough. Odell Beckham Jr. scored 21.5 points for the Giants, but is done for the year with a season ending ankle injury, which will require surgery. Hopefully he can comeback stronger than ever next year.

Another matchup that was decided by less than 5 points, which could have gone either way. A team has no name @boatsports90 had two players on his bench that were the deciding factor in their matchup. The Jacksonville Jaguars defense stifled Big Ben and the Steelers as he threw five interceptions and two were returned for touchdowns, but they were on the bench for A team has no name @boatsports90. Melvin Gordon was a machine this week for A team has no name @boatsports90 as he shredded the Giants for 34 points, going over 100 yards rushing and adding two receiving touchdowns. Amari Cooper has continued his dissapointing year for for the Raiders as he only scored 2 points this week for A team has no name @boatsports90. Harambes Revenge @kryptocek started out the week strong with 32 points on Thursday night as Jameis Winston added 18.5 and Brandin Cooks scored 13.5 points. The star of the show for Harambes Revenge @kryptocek was no doubt DeAndre Hopkins who scored 3 touchdowns on 4 catches giving him 27 points this week. What a game this truly was with Harambes Revenge @kryptocek coming out victorious.

Rico's Raiders @richq11 vs @Shenanigator

The biggest blowout this week came in this matchup as @Shenanigator put it to Rico's Raiders @richq11. Rico's Raiders @richq11 had 4 players that were on a bye week that did not get changed from being starters. I hope that Rico's Raiders @richq11 has not given up on the season even though he is winless. Alex Smith scored 27 points for the Rico's Raiders @richq11 and he continues to look like an MVP candidate. Adam Vinatieri was a busy man on Sunday for the Colts scoring 19 points for Rico's Raiders @richq11 on 4 field goals and 2 extra points. These were the only bright spots for Rico's Raiders @richq11 this week. For @Shenanigator, this was a different story. Cam Newton has played well in two consecutive weeks for @Shenanigator as he scored 26 points this week. Leonard Fournette had the best game of his young NFL career for the Jaguars and @Shenanigator going for 181 yards and two touchdowns. Although the Steelers got crushed by the Jaguars, Antonio Brown was the sole bright spot, scoring 25 points for @Shenanigator. Look for the hot streak for @Shenanigator to continue in Week 6.
