Week 1 Results

I think everyone can agree that the season started off with a bang. Some teams waited until almost the last second to get their teams situated for week 1, but all teams were submitted on time. Week 1 included some great matchups that went down to the 4th quarter of a Monday night game before a winner emerged. For six teams, congrats on the 1-0 start. For the other six teams sitting at 0-1, there are 16 more weeks left!

Week 1 Matchup Breakdowns

@paradise-found vs @sevinwilson

The hype surrounding this matchup did not disappoint the fans. On opening night, RB Kareem Hunt exploded for 45 points. It appeared that @paradise-found had this week was all but wrapped up. Poor showings from Russell Wilson, Chris Hogan, and first round draft pick Le'Veon Bell opened up the door @sevinwilson on Monday night. Down by roughly 9 points with Dalvin Cook left to play, the rookie running back put @sevinwilson in the drivers seat late in the game with two 30+ yard runs. Had @paradise-found played Philip Rivers, Jonathan Stewart, or Marvin Jones, he would have gotten the win in week 1.

Nic Nasty @nicnas vs @nikethemutt

Nic Nasty @nicnas may have been a 20 point underdog, but this did not scare him one bit. His team came out fighting from the onset. Sebastian Janikowski did not even play week 1 and Nic Nasty @nicnas still pulled off the victory. The biggest surprise from Nic Nasty @nicnas was the offensive explosion from Stefon Diggs who earned his team 27.7 points. With arguably one of the most talented teams, @nikethemutt had less than impressive showing from sure fantasy players Tom Brady and Davante Adams. This week would have been very interesting had @nikethemutt played Adam Thielen or Kenny Golladay!

Jupiter Explosion @breakthrough vs Corn Cobb Pipe @mstodola91

If you would have told me Sam Bradford would have been one of the top performing quarterbacks in week 1, I would have chuckled. Corn Cobb Pipe @mstodola91 knew there was something in that Minnesota purple as Sam Bradford tacked on 25 points as he shredded the Saints secondary. One of the few quarterbacks to have a better week 1 than Sam Bradford was Matt Stafford who Jupiter Explosion @breakthrough had on his bench. Even if Jupiter Explosion @breakthrough played his cards correctly, Corn Cobb Pipe @mstodola91 still would have walked away victorious in week 1.

Rico's Raiders @richq11 vs Harambes Revenge @kryptocek

Fantasy Football is all about matchups and the efficiency ratings were the difference in this matchup. Rico's Raiders @richq11 left about 50 points on his bench by not starting Alex Smith (QB Chiefs), Austin Hooper (TE Falcons), or Jordan Howard (RB Bears). Either way it would have been tough for Rico's Raiders @richq11 to be victorious after the offensive explosions from Harambes Revenge @kryptocek's speedster Tyrek Hill and DeAndre Hopkins! It would have been tough for Harambes Revenge @kryptocek to score any more points as his efficiency rating (points/points possible) was an incredible 92.8% while Rico's Raiders @richq11 was at 49.9%. The good thing for Rico's Raiders @richq11 is that his team is loaded with talent!

@mikeshuh vs @Shenanigator

This was the matchup of the week! Both of these teams would have won the week if they had played almost any other opponent. The all-around solid performance from every player on @mikeshuh's starting roster was impeccable. All but three of his players scored in double digits and two of these guys were 0.2 points away. Talk about some balance right there. Well done @mikeshuh! On the other hand, @Shenanigator had a more boom or bust week, with two players, Leonard Fournette and Antonio Brown amassing over 50 combined points. The other 8 players combined for under 70 total points. @Shenanigator was impacted majorly by the season ending injury suffered by Jaguars WR Allen Robinson. Maybe another Jaguars receiver will step up.

Gators @tom74 vs A team has no name @boatsports90

The MVP for week 1 goes to A team has no name @boatsports90 for his incredible performance as he had 5 players score over 15 points for his team lead by the vaunted Jacksonville Jaguars defense with 28 points. When Josh Doctson was drafted in the first round of the NFL, I anticipated him being utilized a little more than he was week 1. The rookie receiver for Gators @tom74 only played 20 snaps and was not targeted a single time. With the Dolphins vs Buccaneers game being postponed week 1, this limited the players available for Gators @tom74. DeSean Jackson and Jay Ajayi are about as solid of players as there are in fantasy football. They will be back next week and so will Gators @tom74.

NFL Football is the only sport I watch now. Of course it doesn't hurt living in WI and being a Packers fan. (-: Going to be tough at Atlanta this week, our secondary still hasn't been tested. PEACE

I think this might be game of the week! I am excited to watch this one! Go Pack go!

I expected the Seahawk game to be a track meet. Boy was I surprised by the Packer Defense!!
It killed my chances to beat Sevin in our matchup, but it looks good for the fortunes of the green & gold. Can the defense shut down the Falcons? Maybe slowing them down will be all we need.
Go Pack Go!!

Interesting to see the performances from another league in the same comp. I was drafting in the same position as @paradise-found and have both Bell and Baldwin, neither of whom really got out of the blocks this week. I missed out on Hunt though!

I was very disappointed with Bell! My sister has him in another league and I think she would have easily won had he had his typical week.

That's cool to know. Yeah, Bell and Baldwin hurt me, but I had Russell Wilson in as well, expecting a high scoring game. The combination of all three having a poor showing killed my chances. I sure hope they improve soon.

gonna be a good one this week @mikeshuh! someone's going 2-0!

...and hopefully it's going to be me!

Hard to believe how many defenses had such a high score. Usually when my defense is my best score I have around 50 total points. Glad that wasn't the case this week.

I thought the same thing! There seemed to be quite a few defensive touchdowns and big plays made on defense!

less then pleased with my performance in week 1...

I have a feeling week 2 will be different for you!

hope so - i under performed by like 45 points...interested to see if AP is going to be able to get along in NO

@sevinwilson Terrific write-up. Certainly This is often truth in each individual state. Upvoted.

Great write up @sevinwilson!! You have a good team. Good luck the rest of the way!!
