Celebrity “Privilege’s”- Scandals in the Movie Biz (The Fall of Harvey Weinstein) a.k.a. Plants don’t need THAT much love!

So, today, Harvey Weinstein turned himself in to the NYPD a.k.a. The New York Police Department and pleaded “not guilty” to numerous rape and sex crime charges… which may or may not include masturbating on a plant. Time will tell about THAT one. His legal defense/lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, issued a statement that said:

“Mr. Weinstein has always maintained that he has never engaged in non-consensual sexual behavior with anyone. Nothing about today’s proceedings changes Mr. Weinstein’s position. He has entered a plea of not guilty and fully expects to be exonerated.”

Yeah. Right. Uh huh. Sure. OK. We believe you Harv.

He paid 1 million dollars in cash to make bail, has surrendered his passport to show authorities he is not a flight risk and, is being fitted with a monitoring GPS device that will track his every move. Weinstein will now have to get approval from a judge if he wants to travel beyond New York or Connecticut.

At 8:55 Eastern Standard Time, Harvey Weinstein has been officially charged with rape.

Oh, Harv. How the mighty have fallen. Apparently, you can only pay so many people off so many times before you get busted, called out and taken down. You had SO much going for you. You did SUCH great producing work. Look at your resume. You had your name on SO much…

JUST the tip of the iceberg!

Now, I’m SURE some of those victims weren’t totally victims and went along with it to further their career, make a buck, etc. but, let’s face it, Harv was a HUGE, POWERFUL movie MOGUL. He made his own rules. He was a player in a system that THRIVES on sex and money and power, unfortunately. He could make and break you and your career at the drop of a hat. He’s proven that (again, unfortunately). Most of these women (and some men) ARE VICTIMS of a sex-crazed, powerful, rich, eccentric producer with serious issues. It’s sickening that a “BUSINESS” can run on this kind of twisted mind set to the point of damaging people’s lives the way it has. Some people just want to tell stories through the film medium. While Harvey and his creepy brother Bob were on top of the game, they’ve cheapened an art form.

Lucia Evans, Asia Argento, Ashley Judd, Mira Sorvino, Gwyneth Paltrow… These are just a few of the names we’ve heard the slimy and monstrous stories from. Their tales are disturbing at the very least and over the last months we’ve heard of others who have taken their “celebrity status” WAY to much for granted to the point of thinking they can do no wrong.

One accusation after another… and the list got bigger and bigger… like a noose tightening around your fat, hairy, sweaty neck, Harv.

Then, more and more came out, exposing OTHER famous people, in various industries, of sexual misconduct. Not just producers, directors, actors and comedians but, publishing company presidents, heads of Japanese financial institutions, TOM FUCKING BROKAW and MATT LAUER!?

Now, SOME of them have been shocking…

Morgan Freeman? Come on, dude. You were Red in Shawshank Redemption. Everyone loves Red. Well, apparently Red loves to be inappropriate to the women on set.

Bill Cosby? I am still in some sort of shock over this but, money begets power… and I guess power means you get to drug chicks and rape them? I don’t think so Pudding Head!

Louie C.K.? Really, dude? You were SO on top of your game. Stop asking women if you can crack one off in front of them. NOT. COOL. DUDE.

But these guys?

Richard Dreyfuss? Really? Dustin Hoffman? Say it isn’t so… PLEASE. John Lasseter? The Pixar guru? Jeffery Tambor? HEY NOW!

It’s depressing some people have some dark secrets.

Kevin Spacey… Have you ever SEEN “SEVEN?” There’s a REASON that performance is so good… I’ll give you a hint (He’s ALWAYS been a creep. You can SEE it).

Woody Allen… I won’t even go there.

Dang. People are fucked up.

But…

To make things worse, “President” Trump (UGH!) has said that he WON’T STAND FOR SEXUAL MISCONDUCT and it’s WRONG! It won’t be tolerated… Um, HI! Pot calling the kettle black or people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones or how about, shut up, Trump you molesting, pussy grabbing piece of trash! YOU’RE JUST AS GUILTY!

But, I digress…

The industry has worked with these deep dark secrets forever (Look at the whole thing with Corey Feldman, Corey Hair and the whole pedophile thing which is another LONG article altogether). I’m glad it feels like Hollywood and the film and television industry is cleaning up its act. I hope the people that KNEW what Harvey was up to will remember this as a HUGE lesson to them… YEAH, a few people spoke out to him and Brad Pitt threatened to kill him (good for you, Brad) but, this kind of behavior has needed to stop for a long time now.

Harvey’s sexual misbehavior is devastating to the victims but, it also ravages the film community AND the film going public. This is the world’s entertainment and escapism. Harvey and the other creeps accused of this heinous behavior has put a black mark on the industry as a whole. Hey, accused producers, actors, comedians, etc. You’re are a dime a dozen, some last, some don’t. Some have long careers, some are one trick ponies. You fucked it up for yourself. You had your moment(s). Maybe you can reflect and heal. The victims, however, they will take time to heal, thanks to you.

I hope they heal quickly with the knowledge that justice will be served, even if it took longer than it should have… And I hope that plant he violated can now have some closure.
