RE: Seven Day Black and White Challenge Accepted! [Day 1]

I forgot to ask you, what kind of Telemark gear are you riding? 75mm or NTN? I have myself trouble leaving 75mm behind because it gives such freedom and flexibility compared to the new stiff setup. If you're on NTN, how did you find that transition from 75mm?

Sort:

I ride 75mm but might upgrade (or downgrade??) to NTN. After many years of bending over to clip my heel in, I think that kicking in to an NTN looks pretty appealing nowadays ;)

I totally agree to this point, Helen. I like a more flexible boot for powder and a stiff boot for downhill racing. It's so hard to say goodbye, 75mm!

I belive NTN requires a new style of skiing and I have tried to give it a chance for two years now, but now I have decided to leave it behind. I can't leave the playfulness behind and want to have more fun again. It's quite upsetting having invested in Scarpa TX Pro's that can't be used on 75mm and need to buy another pair instead (my current 75mm boots are skiable but have some broken parts after 12 years of use) , and change bindings. I think I will have Voilé swithcback for easier backcountry trips. Today I'm leaving for ten days in the mountains, Can't wait! Will maybe be a bit away from Steemit, but will check in from time to time :)

That about how I feel too. I think that it is possible to design a teleboot that is as comfortable to ski as a 75mm and as light weight and convenient at Dynafit TNT setup (I also ski alpine sometime - just don't tell anybody!) We just need the right designers to solve that problem and it seems like most of the boot development is happening on alpine gear with Tech bindings and not tele. Hope you get an obsurd amount of snow on your trip!

I do actually have tech telemark bindings (Atk Newmark Freelock) on my skis that are light as feather, and tech toe Scarpa telemark. Still, horrible to do telemark on, beautiful for alpine turns. Problem? I don’t want to do alpine turns... So just had to run out of the cabin and take picture of our skis. Mine with tech bindings to the right, my husbands new skis bought yesterday with Voilé switchback. I think I will make the same setup and just bought some scarpa T1 from Norway’s equivalent to Craigslist.

I think I will sell my Scarpa Tx pro and tech toe binding at the same place, but didn’t have time to organize it before the holiday. 😅 A lot of snow here, hopefully we’ll make a tele/rando trip on tuesday🙌.

I can't tell if I like the skis better, or that cool double door! Must be a beautiful cabin

It’s very nice! It’s actually an old farm house from the 17th century that my father-in-law and husband have refurbished. Sometimes I find myself thinking about all the stories and people that have been inside this house. Haven’t seen a ghost yet, so definitely not haunted😄
