Seven Days Beer Challenge: Day 4 - Eagle Extra Stout

Did I imagine it or have I been sleeping longer than usual since I started this challenge? As Abigail-dantes noted, I'm taking the challenge very serious and that means really trying out each beer. I fear that this has affected the number of hours I sleep, being a sleepy head without any help. Today's beer is from a local shop around my neighbourhood. The name is Eagle Extra Stout

Apart from the information I read from the bottle, the only thing I found online concerning the beer is from another challenge post by @rickie. However that post featured a shorter version of the beer to the right and that one was a lager beer.

Review

Eagle Extra Stout is a dark coloured beer. As I discussed in my first and second challenge posts, these are made from roasted malt and roasting the malt accounts for the dark colour. When I opened the beer cork, it let out gas that was corked inside it but when I poured it in a glass, something curious happened: the beer had next to no bubbles. By the time I had finished pouring it in the glass, there were no bubbles at all, much like a red wine except that it was brown.

I found the lack of bubbles very disconcerting much like I would have been if the bubbles were going down instead of up :) But this is a beer challenge and I needed to taste it! It was very bitter and the lack of bubbles gave it a bland after taste. It is by far the worst beer I have tasted in this challenge. Even Trumpman cannot drink this one especially since there is a whole 60cl of it. Well, the bottle said the beer is "Proudly Nigerian". It also has a NAFDAC (National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control) registration number of 08-5096 to prove it. Well, at least, the beer is safe for consumption even though the question remains: Why? Why would anybody want to do that?

The ingredients listed on the label are malted barley, sorghum, caramel, sucrose, hops and water. I guess our stout may not have come from roasted malt afterall. Maybe the brown colour came from caramel. Well, what do I know? The bottle also promised that the beer would have Full Flavour and Full Strength. I assure you, it lived up to these promises.

Finally, the beer has the highest alcohol content I have ever seen, a whooping 7.5%!

Would I Drink This Again?

I did not drink it the first time so why would I drink it again? No, I'm done with Eagle Extra Stout. Down the sink it goes. I suppose the bacteria down there are going to get intoxicated today!

Thank you @trumpman for starting this challenge and thanks @mobbs for nominating me. I hope I got it right.

I'd like to nominate @ackza for this challenge because he seems like a guy who would appreciate a good beer. Besides, I can't think of a better way to prove to him that I'm on Steemit since he has been inviting me to join from instagram. In case you don't know him, @ackza makes it rain on poor people, making their lives better with money he earns on Steemit. Would you accept this challenge, please?

Thanks for reading.

Ah @churchboy, nominated, errr "victimized", by our sweet @abigail-dantes!... On a serious note, I'm so glad I'm forewarned about a frightening bubbleless beer! Yikes! 😱

Oh, @abigail-dantes has been nothing but sweet. She is so thoughtful that she failed to nominate me on account that I might not be much of a beer drinker. Imagine that! I don't deserve the kindness she shows me but life is good like that. I am so happy to meet and follow you. I am a bit surprised that I had not done that in the past because I know I have seen you a few times before. Oh, run from Eagle Stout: it is no fun! Thank you for showing up here. You're appreciated.

LOL. I thought she was the one who nominated you! hehe. It is funny how we run in different circles yet care so much for the same people. I look forward to getting to know you better.

Yes, it is amazing how that happens. I'm sure you're awesome and I can't wait!
