Plot

The episode features the characters dealing with the aftermath of Daenerys Targaryen's destruction of King's Landing, and the crowning of the ruler over Westeros.

Opinion

The first thing we see at the beginning of the episode is how Tyrion crosses the entire city walking and observing the devastating state in which everything was left after Daenerys and Drogon burned the city, until he arrives at the place where the bodies of Jaime and Cersei are, surprisingly only a few bricks fell on them, but the roof is still intact, which was really pathetic, however, the excellent interpretation of Peter Dinklage conveys what Tyrion feels when he finds his two brothers dead.

While that happened, Jon Snow tried to prevent Grey Worm from executing some Lannister soldiers who had survived the genocide of Daenerys and Drogon, and the tensions between these two characters grow, however, Jon has no choice but to let Grey Worm kill to the survivors.

The Unsullied and the Dothraki calmly and orderly wait for Daenerys, who dismounts Drogon to give a speech in high valyrian and dothraki, in which he thanks the army for fighting, and proposes to free the world and break the wheel. Arya is there, the white horse has disappeared. Tyrion is also there with a face of disappointment.

When Daenerys concludes her speech, in an environment reminiscent of Nazi Germany and Adolf Hitler, Tyrion goes to her, and she claims him for letting Jaime Lannister escape, and he accuses her for destroying the city, so Tyrion resigns to his position as Hand of the Queen, and then he is arrested by the Unsullied. Jon just looks at the situation and looks Daenerys in the eyes until she leaves for the keep. Arya, appears next to Jon, and tells him that she had come to kill Cersei but Daenerys arrived before, in addition, also warns Jon of the possible consequences of continuing with Daenerys.

Immediately Jon meets Tyrion in the room where they have him captured, and there, the writers try to justify and explain what they have done through the dialogue of these characters, while Tyrion reminds the audience every barbarity that Daenerys has done in the past, Jon justifies Daenerys behavior in the same absurd way that some did during the past week.

Then, Jon goes to the ruined hall where the Throne is, where Daenerys is, only guarded by the dragon. Obviously the dragon lets Jon pass, and inside, Jon and Daenerys have a short conversation in which she proposes to Jon to govern with her, but Jon stabs her, leaving her to die, which causes Drogon to arrive, and after checking that his mother has died, unleashes his fury by burning the Iron Throne. Finally the dragon takes Daenerys and goes flying.

At that moment the episode introduces an ellipsis, moving to the scene in which Tyrion, who has chained hands, meets with a council composed by Edmure Tully, Gendry Baratheon, Samwell Tarly, Arya Stark, Bran Stark, Sansa Stark, Brienne de Tarth, Davos Seaworth, Robin Arry, Yara Greyjoy, Yohn Royce, the new Prince of Dorne and three other unknown characters, with the aim of judging Jon and himself, since they are being held and accused of treason by Grey Worm. There they decide to name Bran Stark the new king; Tyrion as Hand of the King; eliminate hereditary succession; let the north remain an independent kingdom; and send Jon Snow to Night's Watch.

Finally the series ends, Bran is the new king; Tyrion is the Hand of the King; the small council is composed of Bronn, Sam, Davos; Brienne and Podrick are members of the Kingsguard; Sansa is the Queen in the North; Arya travels west of Westeros, and Jon Snow, the last Targaryen, goes with Tormund and the Free Folk to beyond the wall.

Thus conclude 8 seasons of one of the best series of all time, unfortunately, the last episode is probably the worst of the whole series, the incoherencies in the script are many, the dialogues are terrible, the direction is bad, and the development inconsistent. Undoubtedly the best thing are the performances, but unfortunately the writers decided to strip the characters of their personality to turn them into puppets of their personal desires.

The ending leaves more questions than answers, and bad questions, if Daenerys genocide does not make Jon want to kill her, why not wait to make a decision like that? To save Tyrion? It would be crazy, Tyrion does not mean anything to Jon; Why Davos, Brienne, Sam, Arya and Sansa are in the council? the first three had no authority to be there, and the only Stark with legal authority is Bran, Yohn Royce should not be there either; Why does the North have a vote if it is an independent kingdom? Why Yara and the Prince of Dorne do not want independence too? If the Lannisters no longer exist and have no power, why is Tyrion there and Jon Snow not? Why did Grey Worm wait for a council to be formed instead of killing Jon and Tyrion? If Jon is the rightful heir and several people know why they do not use that argument to set him free? Why does Davos offer land to create a domain for the Unsullied if they can not have children? Why is Brienne in the Kingsguard if she swore to serve Sansa and Arya Stark until her death? How is it possible that Bronn is Master of Coin? What the fuck is going on here? it seems that the writers of this season never saw the series.

From a general point of view, the ideas that the writers wanted to develop were not incorrect, in fact, it is possible that George R. R. Martin will develop the same course of action with only a few differences, however, the development of the story will probably be infinitely better.
