Yes, I started a partial power down last week. The reason for this power down is that I decided to create a community and I need 3 HP.

The focus of the community will be Link Development.

The topic of the community will be the importance of Link Development on the web. It will include discussions about the topology of links and the flow of traffic through web sites.

I have three days before the powerdown kicks in. I would love comments about the concept for this community.

The community will include reviews of random web sites on the Internet. The forum is not about HIVE. It is about the world at large.

I've noticed that some SteemIans looks down on accounts with a large number of outbound links. However, I think the discussion of Link Development would be a fitting subject for a community. I welcome comments on this idea.

The first topic I would like to discuss is the difference between link development and SEO.

The hyperlink is the defining character of the World Wide Web. The web is essentially a collection of linked documents.

The flow of traffic through these links should be a primary concern of internet development.

Unfortunately, in the early days of the Internet, marketers realized that search engines would be a primary source of traffic. Marketers realized that the top spot on a search engine pages was the most valuable link on the internet.

Marketers began developing techniques to influence the ranking of their web sites and the dark art of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) was born.

I've disliked SEO from its inception. The problem with SEO is that web sites engaged in SEO stopped the organic development of links.

SEO has another really bad effect. SEO essentially surrenders the power of independent web developers to the search engines were are owned by nefarious companies like Alphabet, Microsoft and Verizon.

Because marketers spent most of their effort on SEO, we've created a negative climate where web sites must shell out billions of dollars to these behemoths to get their sites seen. Even worse, the large search engines have a long history of shadow banning web sites with opinions that the ruling elite dislike.

I had hoped that social media would provide a mechanism for small sites to be seen. Unfortunately, most social media sites. This is the announcement for the community on Tumblr.

I will create the community when the power down executes 3 days from now.

I welcome comments about the project
