Exchanging links without context (aka adding each other to a "blogroll" or similar list) can actually hurt your ranking. Also, its 2016, so forget about directories. Most people using the net today have never even heard of DMOZ , a fact Google et al are of course aware of. A lot of information in this article is either way to generic to be helpful, or severely outdated.
Agreed. It looks like he broke his own rule about not pasting (or at least posting) generic info. But then I suppose he's not optimizing this for Bing or Google, but to take advantage of the new influx of traffic to Steemit. People will find it, read it, and maybe even upvote it because there's not much else here yet. Best of luck on that strategy, it'll work for awhile I guess.
