It is a way of getting instant ranking in the search engine, here we shall pay for every unique click called as 'CPC'.We shall set higher 'CPC' for a better position of our ad being going to show in 'Google' search engine and in its display partner's, we can understand that ranking is auction-based.Also from the image above we can call 'SEM' as the process of engaging keywords or topics related to our ad, measuring the conversions,optimising them accordingly to acquire good results and finally promoting our product through our ads.

Definition:

CPC /PPC

It stands for cost per click/pay per click and defined as paying money for every unique click of our ad in the 'Google' search engine.

Aim Of SEM:

"To acquire a successful ad display with least 'CPA' and good exposure".

Definition:

CPA

It stands for cost per acquisitions/action and is defined as the average amount one has to pay for the ad display's to get one conversion/sale/purchase.

Advantages Of SEM:

We can target the right customer, at the right place and at the right time.

This is a kind of ad media where customer's themselves reach us, rather we go to them.

We pay only for the responses in SEM.

Worldwide marketing can be done with least budget and quick time.

We can display the ad where customers are looking for the competitors.

Working Of SEM:

Search engine marketing is done in 'Google' by using a tool called 'Google Adwords'.

Procedure to create ad and display in desired location(s):

Login to google.adwords.com, using Gmail credentials, now go to tools--->keyword planner--->search for new keyword and ad group ideas--->enter all the keywords or topics in the box provided--->select the desired location and click on 'get ideas'.

Select/click on 'keyword idea's>download the keywords list in excel sheet and choose required keywords wisely.

Go to: Campaign's--->+New Campaign and select one of the following networks.

<->Search Network: Our ad will get shown or displayed only in search engines.

<->Display Network: Our ad will get shown in the form of the banners in other websites which are partnered with 'Google Adsense', and in websites which are related to our keywords or topics.

<->Search and display network: Our ad will get displayed in both search and display networks.

<->Shopping Network: Dynamic ads will be shown in this network which is created from the database of the e-commerce sites.They are shown in the form of product images within 'Google'.

Create a campaign name ---> select the appropriate location(s), set the default bid as the average 'CPC' of the keywords we chose, and budget extensions as well and finally click on 'save and continue'.

Give the destination address, create an ad group name and list of keywords.

While selecting keywords we must use the right modifier's shown below:

<->Broad: This is the default keyword modifier where the ad is displayed for all the set of queries that has even a part matching with part of the keyword, even a match with the meaning of it or spelling mistake.

<->Phrase: The ad is displayed for all the set of queries which has a part matching with the keyword typed,in double quotes.In this modifier, the keyword is enclosed in(" ").

<->Exact : In this modified the keyword is enclosed in square brackets([ ]).The ad is displayed only for the query matching with the keyword typed.

<->Negative: In this modifier, the keyword is preceded by a hyphen, the ad is not displayed when the query matches with the negative keyword.

Click on 'continue to ads.

Design the ad and click on 'save and finish'.
