Think green, go for green and eliminate pollution, My Entry for Climate Change/Global Warming, Contest arranged by @upmewhale

We are living in the age of technology. Technology has given us many inventions which helps us fighting against poverty of the world and ensuring better future for our children. On the other hand, technology has taken many things from us. With the aggressive advancement of new technologies our environment is getting polluted badly by its by-product which is not properly treated before sending to the environment. This is creating adverse effects to the environment which is causing climate change and leaving our beloved earth in danger.

Hello friends,

I am rarely attending any contest. But, when saw the subject mentioned topic to participate, I couldn’t resist myself to attend this contest. All thanks goes to @upmewhale. First of all I beg your pardon as I am from non-English speaking country and my English is not good.

So, coming to the topic climate change/global warming. Both these topics are interrelated with one another. There is no doubt that due to climate change global warming is happening.

What is climate change?

If I answer this question from a common people point of view, climate change is that what we did not see or experienced before in our environment. It could be either way, good or bad. As term global warming is attached with it, we can consider it as bad change to the environment.

If I add little science here, the climate change is increase of earth temperature due to adverse use of different green house gases including but not limited to CO2 due to rapid growth of mill and factories.

Why the climate change is happening which resulting the global warming?

As mentioned above, the greenhouse gases are mainly responsible for climate change and global warming.

First we have to be more clear about greenhouse to understand about greenhouse gases.

You may have observed that some of the areas people make glass made house to plant trees. In this house the side wall and rooftop both are made of glass. During the daytime the heat from sun goes inside the glass house and trap the heat inside. When dark comes and no sunlight is there, the trapped heat helps the plants grow. This mainly happens in colder countries.

The greenhouse gases work similarly to our earth. Gases like CO2 traps the heat of the sunlight and don’t allow the earth to cool down which supposed to happen at nighttime. The greenhouse gases are mentioned below-

How these greenhouse gases are coming to the environment?

The source of greenhouse gases are burning fossil fuels for electricity, heat, and transportation. The growing industrialisation over the glove is the main reason of this. In United States the source of greenhouse gases are like below.

Transportation: 28.9 %
Electricity production: 27.5%
Industry: 22.2%
Commercial and residences: 11.6%
Agriculture: 9%
Land uses and forestry: 11.1%

The main contributors of this climate change are the countries who are aggressively increasing the industrialisation. We all know which are the leading countries of this industrialisation race. Also the third world countries aren’t behind the race.

I am living in Bangladesh, one of the growing countries of the world. Industries are growing rapidly here and the same time pollution. As a result we are suffering from different natural disasters due to the climate change of the country.

Flood and storm is common scenario in Bangladesh. Recently the number is increasing more and more. Almost every year the flood is heating the country which causes huge casualties. Bangladesh is situated beside the Bay of Bengal. The forest Sunderban is protecting us from the storm. But, recent times the trees from this forest are chopped down by the local people. As a result the forest can’t protect us from storm like previous. The flood picture of Sundarban is given below.

What the world leaders can do about climate change?

During the tenure of US president Obama, one initiative took my attention. That is ‘Clean Power Plant’. He was very much keen about climate change and took some major steps. Though it was criticised by his opponents, I personally liked the initiative. Here is one speech from him about climate change.

WE CAN CHOOSE TO BELIEVE THAT SUPERSTORM SANDY, AND THE MOST SEVERE DROUGHT IN DECADES, AND THE WORST WILDFIRES SOME STATES HAVE EVER SEEN WERE ALL JUST A FREAK COINCIDENCE. OR WE CAN CHOOSE TO BELIEVE IN THE OVERWHELMING JUDGMENT OF SCIENCE — AND ACT BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE." - PRESIDENT OBAMA

We want the influential global leaders to come up with initiatives like Obama to save the world.

Climate change is a vast topic. It is not limited to global warming only. Global warming is one of the part of climate change. It’s a matter of hope that several organisations are working to fight against climate change. Here is some information and consequences about climate change from WHO-

Between 2030 and 2050, climate change is expected to cause approximately 250 000 additional deaths per year, from malnutrition, malaria, diarrhoea and heat stress alone. The direct damage costs to health is estimated to be between USD 2-4 billion per year by 2030.

So, what to do to stop climate change?

Shall we stop the industrialisation and running our vehicles to stop environment pollution?

The answer is ‘NO’
Cutting down head for headache is not the solution. We have to come up with constructive plans to fight against climate change.

We can stop coal burning replacing environment friendly fuel.
We can use solar energy to run our vehicles and machine.
We can use acid scrubber to neutralise acid.
We can use gas filter to neutralise greenhouse gases.
We can initiate treatment plants for waste treatment.
We can reduce cutting down more trees
We can use both side of a paper while printing.
Finally, we can plant more trees.

Last but not the least, I will emphasis on the last point which is- planting more trees. Trees are the source of absorbing CO2. Even a small plant can absorb CO2. So, the more we plant trees, the earth will be more safer place for us. Accordingly we can stop the climate change and global warming.

Thanks for stopping by.
