I came across a story on today which inspired me a whole lot and I am pretty sure you will benefit from it as well and it will help you to achieve whatever you are striving to achieve right now in your life. The story goes like this:

On a mountain a poor farmer and his wife were struggling to make ends meet. So the man decided to leave his home and embarked on a journey to the closest town, a 20 days walk. Before leaving he asked her if she will remain faithful to him and he would promise the same, both said yes and the journey began.

He found a job and asked his boss to keep his wages with him as he was planning to get them back when he would return home, the boss agreed to this engagement.

After 20 years of hard labour, the time had come and decided that he would return to his house and to his wife. The boss said that he will give him the money, however wanted to make him an offer of choosing either the money or 3 pieces of advice. After a long thought the man choose the advice his boss had.

The 3 pieces of advice were as follows: -

  1. Never take any shortcuts as can prove to be very costly.
  2. Don’t be overly curious as it could lead to your end.
  3. Never make a decision when you are angry or hurt, or you will suffer endless regret.

The boss then gave him 3 loaves of bread. The first 2 for the journey and the last one when we reaches home.
One the very first day of his 20 days journey he met a traveler who asked him where he was going and the man told the traveler that he was going home after 20 years and had to walk home for 20 days. The traveler told him about a shortcut which would take cut short the journey to 5 days.

So the man took the shortcut, but then he remembered the bosses first advice and turned around, he later came to know that he had avoided an ambush as a result which he would have certainly died.

At night he came to a village and requested to stay in the shack owned by a farmer, at night he heard a loud roar outside and wanted to open his door and see what was going on but then he remembered the second piece of advice and decided against it. Next morning the farmer told him that he had forgotten to mention that there is a tiger in the village who frequented the city at night and they generally kept their doors locked.

After walking forever the man finally reached home one evening, he saw a dim light inside the house and walked towards the window of his house and saw his wife hugging another man. His jubilation turned to fury, he decided he was going to kill them both. But then he remembered the 3rd piece of advice and decided to sleep in the barn for the night and decided he will go back to the town and ask his boss for his job.

But he thought before leaving he should tell his wife that he remained faithful all this time. He knocked at the door and as she saw her she rushed into his arms, but he shoved her away and said that she had betrayed him, she was amazed and said that she hadn’t. The man asked about the other man in their house last night with tears in his eyes. She replied that the man was their son. She was pregnant with him when the man left and he was 20 years old now.

The three sat down to share the 3rd loaf of bread and discovered the wages with interest inside the loaf + interest.

Life is full of misery and uncertainty, if we don’t see something it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. The future will be fruitful if we keep on applying the principles we have learned. Our values differentiate us from others and if they our lost all we will have is misery and regret. Patience always pays off.

Sort:

yes totally true!! Btw, life is full of mystery, you mean not misery although also true in a way

That's true Leeuw. The way I meant it was that life is not easy, it's up to us how we want to take it. Do we want to embrace or it just crying about it or quit.
