Working for myself and providing for my kids

in #self-employment5 years ago (edited)

Working for yourself is the shit. No bosses or snotty coworkers judging every move you make. No being late. I haven't been late in 2 years, because I work at my own damn pace. What the fuck is late? What a stupid thing. Late. Being late. Wtf? You ever heard of traffic? Ever heard of morning coffee? Fuck outta here. The amount of money I'm making is set. It's up to me to go get it. I don't have an hourly wage to start to the day. My hourly is determined by how hard and smart I can work. I used to get chewed out daily for showing up 5-10 minutes late to my job, after driving 1.5 hours to get to work. So, fuck late. Fuck a boss. Fuck being an employee. I have the skills and knowledge to take my own path. I don't need anyone. I need my truck, my tools and a will to succeed.

It's just me v.s. the job at hand. In this case, its property maintenance. Gutter cleaning, window cleaning, pressure washing, roof/siding cleaning. This type of stuff gets my heart pumping. All I see is dollar signs. This is work that has to be done, but not many people can or want to do it. That's where I come in. I offer my services, the price is set, I complete the work, make sure the customer is happy, get the payment, tip my hat and go home to my daughters.

I want to record my past, present and future experiences, working in this business. The stresses, problems, conflicts, successes, preparations that go into this type of work.

I have never been able to work for anyone. I've never stayed at a job longer than 8 months. I just cant stand following rules for an extended period of time. And the people enforcing those rules, are usually dickheads. I never seemed to find a job that offered advancement, just stagnant, repetitive work. I've been mistreated, talk down to, disrespected and downright fucked over by employers. I'll go into that more later. The next post, I want to talk about how I got into property maintenance, what challenges I face and my goals for the future.
