ASKSTEEMIT: What are the best practices for protecting personal data?

in #security8 years ago (edited)

What level of data privacy does the blockchain provide?

How do you ensure 100% data security?

Maybe there is really no way of obscuring personal information about yourself. The Internet remembers. Someone on the trollbox told me before: "The best kind of security is when you don't have a frontdoor". It sounds like 100% data protection can never be guaranteed. But there's a best kind of security. They say the best hacks are social hacks. Something to think about.

This (pretty damn hilarious) video here got me thinking.. I need to be more educated about this because I might be missing something. And it's important. Personal responsibility against theft. Or must it be a mutual responsbility?

I'm sure there are plenty of philosophies about data privacy. Please give your best answers, because we need something easy to execute for maximum privacy.

We need the best answers. Let's see if this will bring better answers than Quora.
For those who are new: earn "cash" giving or upvoting good answers.

So what are your best practices?

And what does the blockchain really provide?

Note to Steemit community: Perhaps Steemit has better value than Quora when it comes to certain kinds of questions. Maybe questions important to the soul of cryptocurrency supporters. But you need to frame it in such a way that it works for genuine reading rather than purely pasting in someone else's content. And tagging optimally. Maybe it works the other way round - experts to make posts about best practices, and spark discussions within. Maybe the "time limited" nature of Steemit doesn't allow growth for this type of posts. The button says "Submit a story" anyway. We'll see how this works out.

Thanks for spending some of your time reading (and maybe answering) this

This video is amazing! I guess the sad fact is that as long as people sit behind the help desks and in companies and there is no plain code for everything this will go on...
