Why I Never Upload My ID

I've been trying to get into crypto over the last few months and noticed that nearly every site requires you to upload your driving licence or passport and utility bill.
Then they offer you different ways to pay for the crypto. This includes bank transfer (sort code and account number) Debit Card and various other ways
This seems a very dangerous thing to do if you value your security, your identity and your bank deposits

Now lets see what you need to steal someone's ID

Name? address? DOB? passport? driving license? utility bill?

Looks to me like all those tick the box

Now what you you need to steel someone's bank account or change personal details or even prove who you are... See above list plus bank account details (sort code and account number)

Even if you trust these people or websites. Can you tust that these sites won't be hacked like equifax or uber? and can you trust those people with your info?

Just something to make you think before you sell your soul for cryptos

I have had the exact same thought and I'm very suspicious too. I thought the blockchain was meant to be anonymous??

Your passport, driving license and birth certificate are your last form of defence against the criminals... Not sure why people are so willing to had them out.
We need to keep our cards close to our chest :)

what are the alternatives?

Well over the last week I've been buying cryptos and the site i use only has my email address and my phone number. And I've had no problem with any of the trades. Yes the trades are limited and the prices are slightly higher but a small price to pay for anonymity.
