Ernst Friedrich Richter, Präludium, a moll

in #secretsoforganplaying5 years ago (edited)

This is my entry for the Secrest Of Organ Playing Contest, week 18.

This prelude is a beautifull, Mendelsohn-like, piece. It is not unlike the third part of Mendelsohn's fourth Sonata, even if that piece is in F major and this one in a minor. The left hand plays the melody of the chorale "Warum betrübst du dich, mein Herz", while the right hand provides a two part accompaniment. It is a beautifull, bittersweet piece that deserves to be played and heard. The contest was a nice reason te practice and play it again.

The recording was done on the sample set of the Van Dam organ (1832) in Tholen by Voxus (http://www.voxusorgans.com/en/tholen) for Hauptwerk.
