Secrets of Organ Playing Contest Week 47 Sigfried Karg-Elert's Nun Danket Alle Gott
This is my submission for the Secrets of Organ Playing Week 47 contest. In honor of Thanksgiving coming up in the US next Thursday, I'm playing the great Chorale Improvisation on Nun Danket Alle Gott Op. 65 no. 59. In ternary form, it is a free interpretation of the tune which appears throughout the parts, occasionally being recognizable and other times not so much. The middle part begins quieter but ends with a bang and leads directly back to the beginning of the piece. It is a blast to play, and you get to really open up the organ.
