November 2, 2019--Practice Blog
Kept busy today. Started with a bagpipe lesson. Then my wife and I went shopping before grabbing lunch at KFC. Continued with a brief period of time at home so I could take a mandatory class on sexual harassment for work. Went to church to practice and recorded my submission for the secrets of organ playing (see above). I had several students playing in the championship for their soccer league, and I went to support them for the first half. They were up by 1 at halftime, and I was cold. Came home and uploaded my video and have got dinner started.
On the organ, I mostly worked on music for church tomorrow. I am playing Louis Vierne's Requiem Aeternam from the First Suite of Pieces de Fantasie. A wonderfully slippery piece. I also worked on the postlude: the Prelude on Sine Nomine by Arthur Hutchins. Another neat piece that fragments the tune in very creative ways. I finished my practice with work on Georg Boehms Prelude and Fugue in D minor.
