May 11, 2020--Practice blog in the time of the virus

No picture or video again today. Planned on recording the Secrets of Organ Playing piece for week 72, but it just isn't ready yet. Then thought I would do another piece and it needs work. Tomorrow, I will get something on YouTube.

The day started weirdly. It is my first "day off", if you will. Nothing really to do but with tons to do. I slept in until 8:00, and watched the news until 9. Worked on the fingering transcription for an hour. Signed up for a couple of classes through Secrets of organ playing, and practiced piano. There were a few phone calls in there as well. I had an appointment with my brewing supplier at 1:30, and then went to the church to practice. I practiced longer than I should have on the organ, which meant that the yard work I had planned was sidelined for today. Made dinner of Oven Fried chicken and vegetables and watched part of season 2 of the Clone Wars. Going to bed early as we are tired.

On the piano, I sight read through a Charpentier piece before working on the memory of two Mendelssohn Songs Without Words and working on a third.

ON the organ, read through the first Kyrie of Couperin's Mass for the Convents (will record this week, with possible ornamentation if I can get to my books). Started working on Mini-Improvisation Course by memorizing the chord progression Vidas laid out and transposing it to different keys. Worked up the last part of BWV 630 and now to let it ferment and become better. Going to record it for this weeks Secrets of Organ Playing contest. Also spent some time with Charles Callohan's Prelude on Land of Rest. Will record that this week as well. Just needs to feel more comfortable.
