Can an organist play a recently unpacked and untuned harpsichord?


The Rector of St. Matthew's, Albury, NSW (Australia) recently acquired a beautiful Italian harpsichord from Carey Beebe Harpsichords Australia. Please excuse the tuning as we don't know how to tune it (yet) and it was literally just unpacked and assembled after being shipped to the library at his residence. We hope that this instrument will be used in continuo work and solo work by visiting musicians. As it's portable, the harpsichord can be transported to the church in that marvellous acoustic. I'm not a harpsichordist so the only thing I could think of playing was this simple arrangement of "Jesu joy of man's desiring". Listen to Tom’s recording of the BWV 846 Prelude here:
