At Ammo.com we consider the Second Amendment to be fundamental and we believe that without the Second Amendment the First Amendment can be put in danger.

When the Supreme Court ruled that states could restrict gun ownership, states also went on to pass laws that favored certain religions over others, banned free speech, and made certain types of assembly illegal. These laws weren't just a problem for gun owners, but they were a problem for every U.S. citizen.

Not until 1925 did the Supreme Court rule that all states had to abide by the First Amendment, the one which provides us with our most fundamental rights which we hold dear. The battle to protect the Second Amendment would take much longer, nearly a century in fact.

To learn more about this battle check out our article on the landmark cases of District of Columbia v. Heller (2008) and McDonald v. Chicago (2010) as well as current challenges to the Second Amendment: https://ammo.com/articles/second-amendment-supreme-court-cases-guide
