Spring Clean Your Life!

in #seasons9 years ago

Spring break is approaching, which means going home, being with friends and family, relaxation, and having fun. If we weren't broke college students, we'd be going on exotic spring break vacations, but instead, I'll be opting for my bed. With that being said, on this week-long break from the hectic college life, you should definitely spend your time wisely. I'm all for eating snacks all day and binge-watching Netflix. However, spring break is the best time to do some spring cleaning, and by that, I don't mean cleaning your junk drawer that holds the most random items.

Think about the life you are currently living. There is school, work, relationships, etc. Are any of these aspects of your life contributing to unhappiness? Tweaking or removing the stressors from a particular aspect can make a huge difference in our lives and increase our happiness. School can be stressing you from the inside out, and we have become accustomed to it because it is inevitable. The workload is abundant and feels neverending. How do you make it more bearable? Re-evaluate your entire situation. Are you happy with what you are studying? Is your major related to a field you want to be in for the rest of your life? These questions sound stressful and overwhelming, but they can ultimately depend on your happiness and being in a content state.

Our relationships with family, friends or a significant other play a big part in our happiness. They are the people we interact with, live with and experience life with. If they are doing something wrong, shouldn't we tell them? Fixing your issues with them can lead to a better relationship and more happiness on both sides. If you are in a toxic, unhealthy relationship, that needs to be cut. The rule about spring break cleaning is that you have to get rid of things you don't need anymore! A relationship that isn't advancing you in life or making you feel whole or happy is one of those things. That definitely needs to go.

Personally, I find that the smaller things stress me out more. I need to stop letting the minor issues get to my head because it usually turns out becoming a bigger issue. For my spring cleaning, I'm going to try my hardest to look at the bigger picture and not the small things surrounding it. My dream is to be a successful journalist someday. I'm not going to think about the small obstacles that are going to hinder me from my dream. Instead, I will think about what positive things I need to do to get me there. Happy Spring break!
