Why does the Steemit search page appear BLANK?

This is a publicly consumable, next generation social network funded by e-currency, yes? So why is the search page completely blank without Google's help? Steemit cannot search the information recorded within an immutable, unchangeable, public blockchain without cse.google.com's help?

What future is this.
