Seablue Journal: Day Two of Fasting

in #seablue7 years ago

For a day I felt like a hazy fog had filled my head. I was floating along in this haze trying not to lose track of what my goal was and I've succeeded. Day two of my fast has begun.

Yesterday I experienced the pangs in my stomach, which were not so much hunger as they were a conditioned response of my body to the arrival of food at a particular interval. This is one of the first hurdles to cross. They fade away quite quickly but will keep reoccurring over for a few days. I reframe the experience in my mind to be positive. Instead of 'missing out' on food, I'm gaining in my progression towards a full fasting state.

Having passed the foggy headed stage, I'm feeling quite mentally sharp and writing this I'm surprised at my focus and attention. I had one cup of coffee (black, no sugar) last night. Other than that it has been bottled water and plenty of it. The water gives some fullness in the stomach and fills the need for reaching out and swallowing something. Overall I'm feeling a lot healthier than I was feeling while I was on my sugar binge.

I'm confident as I head into my working day that I'm going to get through today. I'd like to continue to fast when I get home from work later this afternoon, then sleep. On Monday morning I'm keen to try something different after reading a book entitled, 'The Complete Guide to Fasting' by Dr. Jason Fung and Jimmy Moore. They have described another type of fast using kombucha and broth. I'd like to buy a whole chicken, broth ingredients, and kombucha. Then I will try a broth fast for a few days too.

Fasting is one of the cultic acts that have the greatest impact on spiritual purification and the sublimity of souls.
Fasting helps to strengthen the will, to contain the passions and excessive self-love. He gives strength to the fasting man to forsake what is harmful to him, and even what is ordinarily lawful. The faster is then endowed with a strong will that translates into patience in the face of illicit and enthusiasm in the discharge of duties.

I need more patience to deal with all the extra time on my hands when I'm not cooking, preparing and eating food.

Fasting is a spiritual act that helps us to gain more control over ourselves, becuase if we can resist the hunger for food, which is a mojor need of life, then what more would we not resist.

Yes. It is definitely part of the reward for me.

This is cool! I am getting ready to my longest faster ever! You're almost past the hard part! Once you go into ketosis, the 3rd day is easy and then you can actually go for a while depending on your fat reserves. You're better off to stick to strait water though so you're body stays in fueling off of stored fat.
