애플이 앱 개발자들을 상대로 암화 실행을 지원하는 크립토킷을 발표하자 그 용도에 대해서 궁금해 하는 사람들이 많은 것 같습니다. 애플이 어떤 모습을 보여줄지 모르겠지만 무척 기대가 되는 것도 사실입니다.

When Apple announced its Cryptographic Operations, a framework that supports application developers to execute passwords, at the World Developer Conference (WWDC)-2019, there is a flurry of controversy over its use.

Although Apple has not officially mentioned anything, many people on blockchain say that it is a full-fledged move to support cryptocurrency transactions.

Kryptonite is a kind of development tool that allows developers to execute passwords directly on their apps. At the earliest on Apple's developer portal site, Cryptographic Operation supports general-purpose cryptographic operations.

Public key passwords can be used for digital signature implementation and evaluation, key exchange, and besides memory, users can store and manage private keys in a separate secure area called Secure Enclave. Apple's iOS-based devices are 'supporting data to be stored on secure-inclave.

In addition, a Kryptonite can be used to generate symmetric keys and then perform authentication or encryption. At this point, it is difficult to figure out exactly why Apple released its Kryptonite. However, BGR and other foreign media say that even if it is not an attempt to create its own cryptocurrency, there is a possibility that the iPhone will be deployed as a hardware Wallet that can store the cryptocurrency.

Cryptographic technology can be used in various fields besides cryptography. Find My App, which finds lost or stolen iPhones, also includes encryption technology. Still, the Kryptonite may be an important advantage in adding a security layer to the iPhone to use it as a hardware Wallet, BRG said.

It is not surprising to see Apple use iPhones and Mac computers as cryptocurrency wallets. Samsung Electronics has already released its Galaxy S10, a smartphone with a built-in cryptocurrency wallet, and HTC has even released a smartphone that focuses on blockchain and cryptocurrency.

애플이 최근 개최한 세계 개발자 컨퍼런스(WWDC)2019에서 앱 개발자들을 상대로 암호 실행을 지원하는 프레임워크인 크립토킷(cryptographic operations)을 발표하자 그 용도를 놓고 설왕설래가 오가고 있다.

애플이 공식 언급한 것은 없음에도 블록체인판에선 크립토킷이 암호화폐를 지원하기 위한 본격적인 행보 아니냐는 시선도 많이 엿보인다.

크립토킷은 개발자들이 자신들이 앱에서 바로 암호를 실행할 수 있게 해주는 일종의 개발 도구다. 애플 개발자 포털 사이트에 빠르면 크립토킷은 범용 암호 실행(common cryptographic operations)을 지원한다.

디지털 서명 구현 및 평가, 키 교환을 위해 퍼블릭키 암호를 사용할 수 있고, 메모리 외에 사용자는 시큐어 인클레이브라고 하는 별도 보안 영역에 프라이빗키 저장하고 관리할 수 있다. 애플 iOS 기반 기기들은 '시큐어인클레이브에 데이터를 저장할 수 있도록 지원하고 있다.

이외에도 크립토킷은 대칭키를 생성한 뒤, 이를 인증이나 암호화 등을 실행하는데 사용할 수 있다. 현재 시점에서 애플이 크립토킷을 내놓은 이유를 정확하기 파악하기는 어렵다. 하지만 페이스북처럼 암호화폐를 직접 만들려는 시도는 아니더라도 아이폰을 암호화폐를 저장할 수 있는 하드웨어 월렛으로 투입할 가능성은 있어 보인다고 BGR 등 외신들은 전하고 있다.

암호 기술은 암호화폐 외에 다양한 분야에서 쓰일 수 있다. 분실했거나 도난당한 아이폰을 찾아주는 파인드 마이 앱(Find My app)도 암호 기술을 포함하고 있다. 그럼에도 크립토킷은 아이폰에 보안 레이어를 추가해 하드웨어 월렛으로 활용하는데 있어 중요한 이점이 될 수도 있다고 BRG은 전했다.

애플이 아이폰과 맥 컴퓨터를 암호화폐 지갑으로 활용할수 있도록 지원하는 것이 놀라운 행보는 아니다. 삼성전자는 이미 암호화폐 지갑을 내장한 스마트폰인 갤럭시S10을 출시했고 HTC는 블록체인과 암호화폐에 초점이 맞춰진 스마트폰까지 내놨다.
