Croatia challenges the economic leap with smart cities
Croatia is working for its vision with a smart city from the end of 2020 to 2030. To achieve this goal Croatia is preparing a number of projects based on smart investment platforms.
Some projects will serve as a platform for programming and implementing integrated area investments in cities after 2020. By 2030, the total investment of 100 million euros is expected.
Croatia believes that building a platform with investment products that combine small-scale or high-risk projects by geographic location or sector is an effective tool for financing smart city investments.
Recently the Croatian Urban Association is encouraging the use of EU funds in smart city projects. The European Investment Bank is currently designing smart investment platforms in Slovakia, Hungary and Croatia.
In addition, a half of Croatian cities have initiated one or more smart solution projects, including smart streets, smart parking, environmental monitoring, vehicle and bicycle sharing, urban energy solutions and entrepreneurial environment support.
