Taghazout (in Tamazight ⵜⴰⵖⴰⵣⵓⵜ, Arabic: تغازوت) is a village and the capital of the eponymous rural Moroccan town, in the prefecture of Agadir Ida-Outanane, in the region of Souss-Massa, Morocco.

Located on the Atlantic coast, halfway between Agadir and Cape Ghir, this seaside resort has beautiful extended beaches. It offerrs a beautiful panorama, a great natural diversity and famous surf spots.

Geography
The village of Taghazout has geographical coordinates: 30 ° 31 '59 "N, 9 ° 42' 00" W1. It is located at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, about 20.5 km from the city of Agadir, taking the N 12.

The coast of Taghazout enjoys a climate that bathes the coast of a mild sun almost all year long. Precipitation can reach 400 mm per year or more on mountains; showers are usually short but sometimes violent.

The mild climate is largely due to the Atlantic Ocean, and the protection of the mountains and the argan forest. The temperature of the day does not go down much less than 22 ° C in winter and that of the water is kept around 18 ° C. But temperatures can rise in summer up to 40 ° C, and sometimes bring sand winds. But it does not last more than three days. In general, the heat falls at night, moderated by the ocean.

History
Taghazout remained throughout its history an issue of battles between the Amazigh tribes of the back country and the foreign powers. In the sixteenth century, Mhend n'Idir gathered around him the tribes, seized control of the whole north coast of Taghazout, driving out the Portuguese. Those who died were buried on Devil's Rock. It is thus called Imouran or the dying. But at the beginning of the nineteenth century, the Spaniards soon took over the "Timzguida Allal" called the trap, built factories, housing and a new fishing port and trade. Only ruins remain, say the ruins of the trap, razed in January 2014 to make way for a large esplanade.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Taghazout saw the arrival of generations of hippies, who have since given way to young Moroccans and surfers.t.jpg
