Scientists in cushy jobs who dare not rock the boat (they know what happens to those who raise their heads above the parapet)

Journalists employed by the corporate or state press, they need to keep their jobs safe, to climb the greasy pole, to keep their friendly access to the rich and powerful, they know they can't upset the boss or the advertisers

They know if they break rank on their own they will be destroyed........
