Scientists from the University of Granada, Spain, published an unexpected study on the dangers of sunflower oil and fish oil. They published their work in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry.

In the experiment on rats, they tested the effect on the body of fish oil, sunflower and olive oil. Scientists have noted the length of telomeres (the ends of chromosomes performing a protective function) and ultrastructural changes.

After prolonged feeding of rats with oils, scientists received unambiguous conclusions. It is specified that the animals were not fed with one oil, but added it to the ration of rodents.

"Fat accumulates in the liver with age. It was found out that the type of accumulated fat differs depending on the consumed oils, "comments Professor of Physiology at the University of Granada, one of the authors of the study, Jose Luis Quiles Morales.

It turned out that sunflower oil causes several negative changes and high oxidation. Fish oil also increases oxidation, which leads to aging. They also increase the risk of developing metabolic non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. As a result, all this leads to cirrhosis and liver cancer.

At the same time, in rats that consumed olive oil, the liver was healthy. The healthiest were those in whose diet the extra-virgin olive oil was added.

By the way, in folk medicine there is a method of cleaning the liver - take on an empty stomach vegetable oil. Now we should seriously consider whether it really helps? Perhaps the liver is even more stressed.
