Silver in a Tube (#sciencepic)

in #sciencepic7 years ago

Hey Steemians!

Today, I want to make a contribution to the sciencepic initiative.

The picture shows dry silver nanoparticles in a centrifugation tube. They were synthesized from silver nitrate in a mixture of oleic acid and oleyle amine and cleaned in toluene. The particles have a diameter of about 10 nm. After the evaporation of toluene, the shown picture was taken.
These kind of nanoparticles may be interesting e.g. for antibacterial applications or for metallurgy processes.

See you next time!

nett :) wo kommt diese initative her?

Ich glaube, @mcw hat die gestartet über @steemstem.
Hier ist der Originalpost.

Great picture!

beautiful!

Thanks!

Thanks for the photo with @sciencepic tag!!
Nice to have more science people joining here!! You work in nanoparticles applications or studying the physical properties of them?
looking forward to have more from you :D

Well, our group has to do with nanoparticles and materials chemistry but in this case I had worked to gain some experience with metal particles. Normally, I have more to do with silicones at the moment.

nano silver!! awesome stuff, i am always interested in the antibacterial part of silver!!! Followed you for more!!

Shit, bacteria have gotten so strong we now have to use nanoparticles against them?! Next thing you know we're gonna be trying to flush them down wormhole-toilets, or sending them forward in time where we'll have cures for them.

No upvote cos I'm out of upvotes, but Followed!
