Some years ago I was fishing quite regularly, so gutting a fish isn´t new to me. Actually, to dissect one never came to my mind but it´s definitely interesting.

Regarding the chemicals I´d more tend to say it´s the hormonal birth control. Millions of woman are using it these days, which means the chemicals are basically constantly flowing into the water out there...
